Less government

I am a conservative, a Republican, and I don't believe that we should give more and more power to the government.

I am surprised the sheriff, a Republican who's supposed to be for less government, is championing this jail takeover.

Frankly, I don't think we need to give him more power over the finances of our county. He already wields a big stick when it comes to budget time.

I would ask that the newspaper take an independent look at the growth of the county during the 10-year period versus the growth of the inmate population, and then make a fairer comparison than the sheriff offers of the growth of their separate budgets.

We don't need more of "Government Gone Wild" like we have in Washington!
