The readers of Hernando Today were recently subjected to the ranting of Ron Dixon in his ever continuous attacks on our congresswoman in which he basically says she is not looking out for us.
Having followed Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite's career in Congress very carefully, I can say that she has been looking out for us. She has voted against government spending such as the stimulus bill and the overly bloated health care bill.
She has not been in lockstep with her party on all issues. Unless Mr. Dixon wanted this 2,000-plus page health care bill or for the government to bail out the banks and own part of the auto industry, I really don't see what his problem is with the congresswoman.
Is his problem with the congresswoman the fact that she missed 374 of 5,367 votes in Congress ? Do the math. That is nearly 7 percent of the votes that she missed. That is a pretty good attendance record compared to a lot of other members of Congress and many of these votes.
As for Mr. Dixon bringing up a supposed poll on Middleclass.org that gave the congresswoman poor grades, I looked up Middleclass.org on my computer and what I found is a Web site that deals with things like loans and credit counseling. I could not find any poll on their Web site that graded members of Congress. So Mr. Dixon must have mentioned the wrong Web site.
I don't know exactly what his problem is with Ms. Brown-Waite, but compared to some of the others sitting in Congress, I am glad to have her there representing us.
She is truly one of the good ones.
