Abuse of power and egos running wild

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

All leaders exert power in one way or another. Effective and positive leaders use power for the good of the organization or the country.

Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, Stalin, Kim Il-sung and numerous other leaders throughout history also exercised power, but in the long run they did terrible things and tens of millions of people died as each of them amassed power while a cult developed that supported their egos. They were nearly portrayed as gods and, as a result, were beyond making mistakes or being judged.

All of them except Castro, who still lives, have gone to their graves with high regard and even today some have received renewed accolades.

The United States is a relatively young nation in the world, but in its short life span it has become a beacon to the world. During that short span it became the richest and most powerful nation in all of history. No other country can compare to its freedom, openness, vitality and generosity, and because of that it has grown in power and influence.

As one accumulates power, one can develop a huge ego. Americans are not immune to such a phenomenon. We are seeing that today as we constantly debate where we are going as a nation.

The majority of citizens spoke and voted in various jurisdictions and stated firmly they do not like the direction the elected officials are taking us. Those in the majority of both the United States Senate and House of Representatives have determined they know better what is good for us. When they assumed an overwhelming majority in both houses last election, they determined that it gave them the right to dictate. They fully intended to take this country in a different direction than ever before. It is now a little over one year, and we are not pleased with what is happening. We do not want a bigger and bigger government.

President Barack Obama, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid have determined they know what is best for us and they will do anything in order to achieve it.

Our economy is in the doldrums and we have been told on numerous occasions it is a top priority, but nothing interferes with pushing through a national health care bill. Why is it so important to them? It is all about power? Listen to what they say. There are many now who fully expect they will lose their majority in the House and possibly the Senate, but they do not care.

Control of one-sixth of the economy and the ability to dictate nearly every aspect of individual American lives is well worth it in their view.

We already saw the bribes that were paid to senators during their bill negotiations. I can just image what is being promised to representatives for their votes, and they are using our money. The arrogance is unbelievable and it is out in the open. If the government controls the health care, then it will be able to dictate untold power throughout our individual lives.

Think about it. What we do, eat or practice impacts on our health in one way or another. If it impacts on health, then it impacts on costs and, thus, the government will dictate.
