A woman was charged with grand theft Wednesday after taking her live-in boyfriend's gold watch and threatening to hold it until he moves out, deputies said.
Angela A. Demutiis, 60, of 2448 Amherst Ave., had removed the victim's Rolex in August 2009 without permission, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
The watch was worth approximately $26,000.
Demutiis told her boyfriend she would give him back the watch after he moved out of their home, deputies said.
The victim told the sheriff's office he tried to handle the matter on his own, but his girlfriend repeatedly refused to give back the watch, according to an arrest report.
Demutiis initially told deputies she kept the watch in a safety deposit box at a bank and then changed her story and said she gave it to a friend, the report showed.
She was transported to the Hernando County Jail and her bond was set at $5,000.
