U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville, responded to previous articles I had written concerning her rather dismal record as a member of the U.S. Congress, by an attack on my character inferring that I was either lying, misinformed or lacking knowledge of the workings of our government.
During her usual political psychobabble and diatribe concerning my article, she made reference to President Ronald Reagan's quote "trust but verify." However, I wonder if she is also aware of his other quote that "government is the problem, not the solution."
In her own recent poll concerning our government, it was also reported that 92.2 percent of the respondents were of the opinion that the government was not listening to their constituencies. Brown-Waite has been in office since 2003 and various Web sites reflect that she has a very poor record of having any of her bills come out of committee and profiles her as a follower, who tends to co-sponsor bills of other members, usually in lockstep with the Republican Party.
It was also reported that since Jan. 7, 2003, she missed 374 of 5,367 votes. Also, "MiddleClass.org," a Web site reporting individual congressional members voting records as they pertain to the interest of the middle class, Brown-Waite received the following grades: In 2008 a "C," 2007 an "F," 2006 an "F," 2005 an "F," 2004 an "F," 2003 a "D," all which average out to a 43 percent grade, which certainly indicates a very poor record.
It is my opinion that Brown-Waite's record should speak for itself, and I'm certain that the voters, regardless of party affiliation, will hopefully end her Golden Goose career. As our Founding Fathers proclaimed, "Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career." They envisioned citizen legislators, serving their term and then returning home to go back to work. Both political parties in Washington have become corrupt and only look to their own selfish self-interests.
The only way we can hopefully protect our Constitution, liberty and our way of life is to remove all of the sitting incumbents, regardless of party affiliation, and elect citizens who are truthful, moral and mean what they say. To re-elect the same sitting incumbents will only continue the financial bankruptcy and possibly the destruction of our country.
