I read interesting letters in your "Letters to the Editor" section of the Jan. 27 edition of Hernando Today. The letters titled "Playing politics" and "Drain the swamp" are right on the money.
The vote 'em all out wave is growing and I hope continues. Obviously, experience in Washington, D.C., has become a ticket to lining your pockets. Electing one or two "newbie's" is useless because their so called peers will freeze them out unless they fall into the company line. It's the "you play ball and you'll get something" for your district.
Apparently, to get real "change" (getting to be an overused word), we need to get rid of them all!
I'll take inexperience over what we have regardless of party affiliation.
The letter "Scary times" is also something to think about. The writer isn't far from wrong; socialization, nationalism and communization aren't too far apart. It is a frightening outline of where we could be headed if we don't get serious at the polls, not just this fall but in 2012 as well.
An example of how far out and out of touch our current administration is the comment made this morning on the Today Show by the president's press secretary, Robert Gibbs. When asked about pushing for the president's health care reform, Mr. Gibbs said "even as millions of Americans (meaning us) are working harder for less pay, one of the reasons they are taking home less money is because of skyrocketing health care costs."
People are taking home less because they're either out of a job, job sharing or taking part time jobs to keep working and taking pay cuts to keep working.
The answer would be to vote 'em all out!
