Love the cartoon, "Andy Marlette" in "Feedback," Jan. 22. Tell Andy the horse was a good choice because both parties are in danger of losing their seats! Our next election will let our people speak for themselves.
Our Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite was correct in voting down national insurance! Maybe we should be more like China (since they own America now) - only one child per household. How does that grab you? Well, they haven't written (spelled it out) - national health will allow one child per household. All others will be at taxpayer's expense.
On second thought, how about one child for those on public assistance and all others at the parents' expense? Why should we taxpayers keep paying $25,000 to $30,000 for each public-assisted child just to be born? Then we reward the mom with food stamps, WIC program and a check.
Let the ones who are milking the system do public and community service. They surely could work in hospitals and community service. They surely could work public buildings doing janitorial work to earn their keep.
Those of our generation never had those perks. We raised two children in times like now. No public assistance, no food stamps.
What didn't kill us made us stronger and proud.
I'll bet if those on public assistance had to pay the monies back, both parties would be more careful about their conduct.
Being a mom is forever a great commitment.
