I just finished the article by Dr. Domenick Maglio and he nailed it.
Having grown up in the 1950s an '60s, I saw it first hand. Thank God I had parents who knew how to set limits on bad behavior and taught accountability, which is sorely lacking in today's society.
Seeing president after president and politician after politician pass the buck, it is no wonder we have generations of people who perceive themselves as entitled to anything they want.
I say bravo to your paper for supporting the Christian conservative ethic in our society. I prize your publication over your competitor in St. Pete as they are merely leftist apologists.

They're not listening
With the election of Scott Brown this past Tuesday, I was rather amused to see the Democrats turn on each other like rabid dogs blaming everyone within the party and their allies for the election of Brown and none of them, particularly the Democrat Party leadership, understand why.
I can tell them why in one sentence: Your progressive policies are a failure.
Since President Barack Obama took office, the unemployment rate slowly rose 2 percent; the deficit has risen more in one year than at any time in recent history; this Congress keeps raising the debt ceiling so it can keep spending money; the dollar keeps being devalued. And now there is talk about taxing banks.
Let's face it, Obama is very good at blaming everyone else for the problems this country faces after one year in office. I am sure he and the Democrats will continue to blame everything on Bush and the Republicans in the years to come and not accept blame for anything.
What Obama and the Democrats don't understand is this is a center-right country. Forty percent of this country calls themselves conservative. The people thought they were voting for a moderate Democrat when they elected Obama, but they were fooled.
The truth is Obama is the most liberal president to be elected and has surrounded himself with far-left ideologues. Don't take my word for it, look them up. See who they are; you will see that I am right.
This coming November if the Democrats don't start listening to the people, they will pay big time and quite possibly lose control of both houses of Congress.

Wasting tax dollars
Recently, someone allegedly stole $120 from a wallet in a parked car. According to reports, the suspect had been living at the house. We can assume that his identity was known to the victim. The suspect then led police on a two-mile chase prior to being captured.
I was astonished to learn that the sheriff's department saw the necessity to call in the county helicopter on a petty, unarmed theft. This is not the first time that the helicopter has been used on a petty theft case.
It's time for the county commissioners to demand that Sheriff Richard Nugent present to us, the taxpayers, his protocol for using this valuable resource.
In the absence of evidence to the contrary, it would appear the sheriff's department is simply trying to justify the cost of an expensive asset by using it unnecessarily.
