Making a farce of the legal system

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

It is well established that lawyers have a solid grip on their place as the lowest in the human social order, but politicians (who are almost all rejected lawyers) may be of an even lesser species.

Look at just a few recent examples of how lawyers and politicians have made a farce of our legal system and its overly complex and confusing laws.

We know, I hope, that punishment for crimes is intended to deter further repetitions. In order for that to be at all possible, punishment must swiftly follow the crime and be quickly and broadly publicized.

Here, instead, is where we have arrived, thanks to liberal courts and amoral, greedy lawyers:

• A man convicted of killing a wildlife officer 25 years ago was recently condemned to be appropriately put to death on Feb 16. Take note, all you prospective murderers, because that ought to really set you on a straight and narrow path to righteousness. The chances of your being actually executed are miniscule. In the meanwhile, you'll be accommodated in comfortable, tax-paid quarters that really aren't as bad as what many endure on the outside.

• Then there's the disgraceful, recent case of the lunatic that took off on a rampage shooting spree (from Brooksville to Cross City), and killed three persons in the process, when it was well known, and reported beforehand, that the man was a homicidal maniac and sexual predator. Why, except for liberal, limp-wristed judges and amoral lawyers, could/should that have happened?

• I've reserved the most egregious case for the last example. An 11-year-old girl pours gasoline around her sleeping mother and then tosses in a match. The mother (thankfully) survives, but the facts are clear: The daughter is crazy and a continuing real danger to society in general. Yet, our liberal courts and unconscionable lawyers have apparently arranged for that insane girl to be released from custody, while awaiting "sensitive" disposition of her case.

Hey, do you need to be a brain surgeon to see clearly that she needs to be secluded in an insane asylum (if we still have any of those necessary institutions)? If she attempts to brutally kill again, will you then cry out, "We don't understand it"?

Those three are only the most recent to surface in the news; there are surely hundreds of others happening even as we read this. Our seriously damaged legal system, along with its morally corrupt lawyers, are the reason why.

Sleep tight: Lawyers and politicians are looking out for your welfare.
