»  Comments | Post a Comment

Brooksville will be a temporary home to thousands of American Kennel Club registered show dogs and their people as they compete in conformation, junior showmanship, rally and obedience trials during the Florida Classic Cluster.

The event is the largest dog show in the state and has been named one of the top 20 events in the Southeast.

The shows are held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 15-18 and Jan. 20-24. There are no events on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

The show venue is located on 50 acres of rolling countryside in Brooksville, half a mile west of Interstate 75 and south of State Road 50 at 5360 Lockhart Road.

The event is a perfect way for dog enthusiasts to enjoy the day and learn about the more than 150 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club.

Parking is $5. Parking is free for seniors 60 + on "Senior Day" Thursday, Jan. 21 when mentioning Senior Day at the gate.

"Kids Day" is Monday, Jan. 18. The first 100 kids to take the free dog show tour will receive a baseball cap.
