A spokeswoman with the Department of Homeland Security confirmed one of the men arrested Tuesday on drug possession charges was a government employee.
Jason Patrick Dyer, 33, is a baggage screener for the Transportation Security Administration, said DHS spokeswoman Sari Koshetz.
Dyer has been with the agency since 2002. He is not performing screening functions while the situation is under review, Koshetz said.
Dyer was arrested Tuesday afternoon at 4340 Dristol Ave. The Hernando County Sheriff's Office was called after neighbors reported a group of men entering a vacant house.
Upon arrival, they saw three men in the kitchen with pills, syringes and other drug paraphernalia, according to an arrest report.
One of the arresting deputies pricked her finger on a needle while she was patting down Dyer, according to the report.
