The lows during the next five days are expected to drop to the mid- to low-20s for some parts of the Tampa area, according to the National Weather Service.

A cold high pressure system has crept down from the northern states and will cause low wind chills across the region, forecasters said.

Hernando County, along with Levy, Citrus, Pasco, Sumter, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk and other nearby counties, will be under a severe weather alert.

A wind chill advisory will be in effect through 9 a.m. this morning and more warnings are expected through the week.

The forecast includes low temperatures of 25, 23, 23, 23 and 28 degrees from today through Thursday, according to TBO.com.
