We have a lot of empty suits up in Washington, D.C., but U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite is certainly not one of them.
Ron Dixon's letter in the Dec. 24 issue of Hernando Today was not only off base, it was just plain incorrect.
Let's start with a little simple math.
Brown-Waite was first elected in November 2002 and has been elected three subsequent times.
Contrary to Mr. Dixon's letter, she is not running for her fourth term; she is currently serving it.
Had Mr. Dixon done a little research, he would have found that in 1989 the then Democrat majority voted to enact an annual "automatic" pay increase for members of Congress unless Congress passes a bill to stop the automatic adjustment.
Further research shows that our representative has on several occasions put her fiscal responsibility first and not only voted against the automatic pay increase, but has said that she will continue to vote to stop the automatic pay increase.
At a time when our elected officials are selling their vote and the health and economic wellness of America down the river to ensure their own re-election, (i.e. - Landrieu's "Louisiana Purchase" and Ben Nelson's "Cornhusker Kickback") we need to appreciate the we still have a representative who works to save taxpayer dollars instead of squandering them for her own personal gain.
