A 16-year-old is being hospitalized following injuries he sustained during a motocross event Saturday afternoon.
Paramedics were called to a race that was being held at 23451 Mondon Hill Road, authorities said.
A Bayflite helicopter was summoned to the scene and the patient, whose name was not released, was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, paramedics said.
The teenager was complaining of neck and back pain, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies had little information because the accident occurred on private property and was a sporting event.
