Agnostic president

Recently, Hernando Today so fit to publish a column by that great progressive icon Ted Rall in which he called President Barack Obama dumber than former Alaskan Gov. Sara Palin.

With all respects to Mr. Rall, it is not that President Obama is dumb, it is because he thinks we, the American people, are dumb. In my 50-plus years I have never come across a more arrogant president as well as the most inexperienced person to ever sit in the White House.

He has spent us further into debt in one year than former President George Bush did in his last term.

To put that in perspective for the average person to understand. For this country to get out of debt right now, every person would have to pay slightly more than $40,000. To take into consideration that on top of that both Social Security and Medicaid are on the verge going bankrupt and Congress continues to spend like drunken sailors, one can only imagine what kind of mess we are leaving the next generation.

What I say is dumb is for the Democrats to keep blaming Bush and the Republicans. The Democrats had control of Congress since 2006, and if they were smart they would have started cutting budgets and giving big tax breaks to big corporations to bring jobs back to this country and threaten them with heavy taxes for every job outsourced. But the Democrats, who had super majorities in both houses, couldn't get anything done. They couldn't even pass a health care bill. They didn't need the Republicans to pass the bill and they couldn't do it. And who do they blame, the Republicans?!

I remembered recently when President Obama was asked about taxes he said: "I am an agnostic when it comes to taxes." For those of you who know what the word agnostic means, it is Greek and it translates to "not knowing." So, in other words, President Obama is telling us he knows nothing about taxes. Well, I would say that is it in a nutshell: President Obama is our first agnostic president.
