During a meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, March 1, Brooksville city council members are expected to consider amending the city ordinance to fund the Brooksville Fire District.

The fire district would be funded in part. or in full, by levying special assessments for the 2010-2011 budget season. Currently the assessment rate is set at 0.0.

Also at the meeting, the council will consider:

• Changing the name of Clinton Boulevard to Sheriff Mylander Boulevard, based on a request from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. The cost to change street signs is $140 plus labor.

• Approving the voluntary annexation of the Robert Russell property and the Cornerstone Communities, Inc. properties, both located on the south side of Mondon Hill Road and east of Jasmine Drive.

• Requesting businesses and homeowners to install blue lights in their porch/street lights to show solidarity and support for our law enforcement officers during the month of May.
