I don't know when we made the turn, but America has taken a lesson from sports and turned into a trash-talking, in-your-face political farce.
Ted Rall went over the top with his article today on the "dumb," "stupid," "moron" tags on the president of the United States. Not every one is thrilled with how his presidency is evolving but he was elected and just as George Bush tried to do what he thought was right for the country, I believe Mr. Obama is trying to do the same.
The point is, however, that right or wrong, respectful disagreement is always in place. We are all entitled to an opinion. That's what the freedom that we enjoy allows. Personal attacks send the wrong message to each other and our children and teenagers. "Must be all right to dis someone!" Then wonder when it happens to them at home.
Karl Rove, writing in the The Wall Street Journal, has also not been a fan of Mr. Obama. He, however, has written about his missteps and misguidance without reverting to disrespectful language. His last two articles even demonstrated good plans for moving forward in a bitterly partisan Washington.
I don't understand where the whistle was blown on civility. Stick to facts. They should speak for themselves. Express an opinion, but do so in a civil tone. Learn from Sarah Palin. She said "hopey-changey" not the words Ted used.
Someone who does not respect others does not deserve respect themselves.
