I felt compelled to respond to John Nash's most recent column giving his opinion on homosexuals in the military.
I must say that his view is so backward and misleading that I thought it was a joke or parody. Imagine my horror at his genuineness. I am a 36-year-old married heterosexual, mother of two. I have no gay family members and no ulterior motive for supporting their rights.
His comparison of homosexuality to child molestation, bestiality and torture are ludicrous. None of the three deviant behaviors listed involve two consenting adults. Sexual relations between same-sex couples is not equivalent to the violent things suggested. The dear, innocent, ignorant man believes all sexual relations exist for the purpose of procreation.
My husband of 17 years and myself can have no more children. I assure you this has not kept us from having sex. On the contrary, it is a continual physical renewal of the mental commitment made to each other.
What hole has Mr. Nash been living in that he thinks it is just now that gay persons wish to serve in the military? They have always served; just quietly.
Can a homosexual male be counted on to react under pressure? Is this man a moron? He is surrounded by gay police officers, firefighters, EMTs, surgeons, etc. Nash must be blinded by fear.
Which begs the question: What horrid deviant thoughts are creeping around in his head to create so much hate? I think you doth protest too much, sir!
