Biased headline

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Why are you giving away free front-page headline space for Democrat political talking points in the Feb. 5 paper?

While the article was fair, allowing U. S. Rep. Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite to respond to the attacks, this hardly negated the impact of the biased headline.

Wouldn't a fairer headline have been something on the order of "Fifth District Congressional race heats up," "Political charges fly in Fifth District race," or if you had to lead with the veterans' certificates charge, identify the order of magnitude, as in "Mailing charges for 3 veterans' certificates raise concerns?"

To introduce perspective, it would have helped to contrast Brown-Waite's $80,000 postage expense for all of 2009 with the tens of millions incurred by Congressional reps, staffers and families who flew out to the Copenhagen boondoggle.
