I can't believe how timely your recent articles have been regarding violent schools, especially Hernando High. I also applaud Sunday's article about bullying!
The schools have to stop these incidents! They don't seem to be doing anything about it, except possibly covering them up.
When concerned parents call the principal, assistant principal or the deputy on duty, their calls should be returned, not ignored.
Children should be/feel safe at school. What's going on?
I've been told that at Hernando High there's at least one fight a day. How can the administration let this continue? Shame on the school system. They are entrusted with children's care and instruction in a safe environment.
A couple of recent incidents before Christmas break indicate that Principal Ken Pritz and his staff aren't doing their jobs. Their cameras aren't either. One of the incidents was serious enough that a student had to go to the hospital.
Enough is enough! How long has this been going on without public knowledge?
I want to thank Hernando Today for bringing this to the forefront.
These incidents affect the entire community.
• Newcomers won't want to move to an area whose schools have records of violence.
• Offending children become adult offenders or drop out of school and become thugs.
• Neighborhoods harbor gangs and toughies who prey on the innocent.
• People move away, sell their houses or are foreclosed on.
• The area goes down the tubes.
Do we want that in Hernando County? I hope not.
