Christina Lorraine Bingham was arrested Saturday for child neglect and other charges.
Bingham, 29, failed to provide adequate supervision for her two children, ages 8 and 1, according to a sheriff's report.
Two witnesses Saturday saw the children alone and unattended for 15-20 minutes in the backseat of a vehicle at the Walmart Supercenter, 13300 Cortez Blvd.
Deputies came and the woman arrived back to her vehicle with her 11-year-old daughter.
When she was detained, the woman gave her name as "Cindy Ford," but she was known to one of the deputies as Christina Bingham, who lives in Hernando, Fla.
She continued to use the false name and told deputies the children in the car belonged to her niece. The 11-year-old girl also told deputies she was her aunt and gave the name of Cindy Ford.
Deputies ran an identification check and found that Bingham had two warrants for her arrest from Citrus and St. Lucy counties.
When deputies attempted to arrest her, the woman refused to comply and ignored commands to put her hands behind her back and walked to the car where her children were located.
She was eventually secured in the back of the patrol car and taken to the Hernando County Jail where bond was set at $4,000.
The children were released to the care of their uncle, according to Sgt. Donna Black, public information officer for the sheriff's department.
