A man was arrested Wednesday after attacking his ex-girlfriend's new beau as he sat in a parked car, deputies said.
Jon Sanchez, 31, of Spring Hill, was charged with battery after he told authorities he started punching his ex's boyfriend in the face the night before as he was parked at the intersection of Northcliffe Boulevard and Freeport Drive, according to an arrest report.
The victim, Patrick Miller, tried to get away by driving forward, but Sanchez climbed into the car and continued to attack him, deputies said.
Miller, 19, suffered two swollen eyes and lacerations on his head, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
He was treated and released from the Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
Miller was parked alongside his girlfriend's car sometime after 8 p.m. Tuesday and the two were talking when Sanchez noticed them, deputies said.
Sanchez reached through the open window and started punching Miller in the face, at which time Miller put the car in drive and tried to get away, according to the arrest report.
Sanchez climbed into the car and continued the attack. Miller stopped the car and his girlfriend entered through the passenger door and pulled Sanchez off him, deputies said.
The suspect left the area and Miller and his girlfriend reported the incident the following day, according to the report.
Sanchez was transported to the Hernando County Jail. His bond was set at $500.
