Needed: Cold facts

All Floridians did not move here from Michigan or New York. How would we know to leave water faucets running - especially when we are told constantly to conserve water? And how would we know to cover plants? Or should we water them? And what about larger trees?

When a hard freeze is predicted, would you please put this in large red print somewhere:

"Freezing temperatures expected. Leave all your water faucets running just a bit all night long. If you don't, pipes will freeze and break.

Cover your plants or they will freeze and die."

Because this was never announced in the paper or on TV most of us had frozen/broken pipes resulting in costly repairs. And we lost all our plants too!

We do care about Haiti and the Middle East, but it doesn't directly affect us too much. Hard freeze does. That is news we need to know.
