The public will get the chance to hear from about 19 candidates who will be involved in the Aug. 24 primary during a forum Thursday night.
Sponsored by the Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce's government affairs committee, the forum begins at 6 p.m. at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 North Main St. in downtown Brooksville.
The forum will be preceded by a candidate "meet and greet" at 5 p.m. in the atrium outside commissioners' chambers.
Morris Porton, co-chairman of the chamber's government affairs committee, said candidates will have two minutes at the beginning of the forum to introduce themselves. Then, the editors of Hernando Today and the Hernando Times will rotate asking a question to each candidate, who will have one minute to respond.
Porton said the forum should last about 90 minutes.
The forum will be broadcast live on the local government channel - Bright House Channel 622. It will also be webstreamed at www.hernandocounty.us, and simulcast on WWJB 1450 AM radio.
