Health Department offers diabetes program

The Hernando County Health Department offers Diabetes Self-Management Education programs throughout the year and is currently registering patients with diabetes for their next class beginning in October.

Recognized by the American Diabetes Association, the diabetes management program consists of three, three-hour classes that address topics that are specific to the concerns of patients with diabetes including meal planning, medication, and complications of diabetes.

Facilitators Sandra Dixon, RD, LD, MPH, Certified Diabetes Educator and Jan Musick, RN, BSN, equip participants with education, resources and strategies that help promote successful diabetes management including healthy eating with diabetes Classes are held at the Spring Hill Health Department location, 7465 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill.

Individuals affected by diabetes including family members and caregivers are encouraged to attend.

Classes are free to those who receive their medical care at the Health Department.

Registration is required.
