Deputy arrests man who flashed badge

» 2 Comments | Post a Comment

A man lingering outside his rundown home flashed a badge in hopes of discouraging a deputy from questioning him. It didn't work.

The deputy was patrolling the area of English Parrot Road on Wednesday when he came across a brown van backed up to a house with tall grass in the front. A number of burglaries in the area had the deputy on alert, so he pulled the van over as it left the driveway.

The driver, Ronald Hutchison, 41, got out of the van and held out a badge as he walked toward the deputy, according to a report. Hutchison identified himself as a bounty hunter in Tennessee and further stated that he lived in the home, a report states.

When a check with Tennessee revealed Hutchison had never held a bondsman license in the state, the suspect admitted he had flashed the badge in hopes the deputy would let him go, a report states.

A search of Hutchison's vehicle reportedly turned up a pair of handcuffs, a badge on a chain and a retractable police baton in the glove box. Hutchison was arrested on charges of impersonation of a law enforcement officer and carrying a concealed weapon.
