Liberals and lefties

I regularly read with interest the musings of Dallas Dunlap. I rarely agree with his decidedly "left" ramblings, but I enjoy the quiet internal debate sparked by his missives.

Unfortunately, now comes a much more ominous tone to his screed. He now falls back on the age-old and threatening warning that dissent will be considered seditious especially if some nut case uses violence. All dissenters will be blamed for producing the environment that caused the nut case to act.

Hitler burned the Reichstag and blamed the dissenters (Jews) for the act. All Jews must suffer said he - and they did. Stalin used similar tactics. The tactic was tried in this country when the Left tried to blame talk radio for producing the environment that motivated Tim McVey to bomb the Oklahoma Federal Building.

This is a favorite tactic of the left. The left cannot stand a difference of opinion and uses Chicago-style goon tactics to destroy any opposition. A liberal on the other hand can handle dissent, even vociferous dissent, without trying to destroy the dissenter.

I used to think Mr. Dunlap was a liberal.
