A man was charged with DUI Monday night after getting out of a taxi and riding his bicycle along State Road 50, deputies said.
Jeremy B. Bowen, 45, of Brooksville, provided two breathalyzer samples, which showed a blood alcohol level of .234 and .239, respectively, according to an arrest report. The legal limit for a DUI arrest in Florida is .08.
Bowen was picked up by a taxi at Legends Grill off Mariner Boulevard shortly before 10 p.m. and was dropped off at the RaceTrac at the corner of Deltona and Cortez boulevards when he began yelling profanities at the driver, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.
The taxi driver observed Bowen riding his bicycle in the middle of the street along Cortez when he called the sheriff's office, deputies said.
Authorities arrived and Bowen told them he had consumed five beers while at Legends and admitted to being drunk, according to the report.
