Avis J. McCarthy, 80, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Oct. 16, at Oak Hill Hospital. She was born in Yonkers, New York, and moved to this area 18 years ago from Millerton, N.Y.
Mrs. McCarthy was a therapy aide for the State of New York, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and attended Northcliffe Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Francis P. McCarthy Jr. of Spring Hill and Brian McCarthy of Slinger Lands, N.Y.; two sisters, Anne Petrie of Sacramento, Calif., and Avonne Mooney of Reno, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
