Antiwar demonstration set for Saturday morning

Protesting what they call the escalation of the war in Afghanistan, members of the NatureCoast Coalition for Peace and Justice will hold an antiwar demonstration from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the corner of U.S.19 and State Road 50, directly across the street from Weeki Wachee Springs Park.

The peace group is reactivating its members after reports that President Obama will send an additional 34,000 troops to Afghanistan, to join the 62,000 American troops already there.

Coalition Chairman Brian Moore criticized the decision as "another fateful mistake by the American government, and an immoral action of colossal proportions" where soldiers and civilians "will die needlessly."
