Forgotten facts

Yes, Ted Rall, American lives are worth a lot. In fact, we as a nation honor those brave Americans who died guaranteeing our freedom and liberty on July 4, Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

And when we are attacked as against the USS Cole, the Twin Towers and at Fort Hood, we are entitled to investigate and inform the public of the terrorist attacks regarding those responsible and what actions to bring them to justice and what preventive measures are being taken against such acts reoccurring.

Mr. Rall, you stated in your column that, we Americans regard the lives of foreigners as "pretty much worthless." Perhaps you just may have been napping when our country, the government and the countless religious organizations, such as the Catholic Relief Services, Lutheran World Relief and others came to the aid of those "worthless foreigners" during times of floods, earthquakes, tsunamis and other natural and man-made disasters with food, medicines, equipment and personnel with little to no regard to the nature of those counties' politics.

Also, Mr. Rall, perhaps you have forgotten the fine work this country has done through the Peace Corps in building hospitals, schools, furnishing farming equipment and the personnel in assisting those poor counties to become self-supporting members of the world community. And you say we look upon these foreigners as "worthless." Are these acts of an uncaring America?

I don't know where you arrived at the statistics of two million people killed by American military, which seems very bloated. I just wonder how many millions of "worthless foreigners" would have been killed had we not stepped in and defeated Saddam Hussein's genocidal ambitions and the present terrorist Jihad's goal to eliminate all of Israel and anyone who disagrees with them, namely, we Americans. Was it illegal? Since Congress did not declare war against Iraq, your definition is illegal; however, we had a moral obligation that is more important to the lives of those innocent foreigners, be they "worthless" or not.

"Moving forward" with President Barack Obama by delaying sending troops to Afghanistan, which is putting our troops there in greater danger; attempting to ram down our throats a health care bill that will bankrupt our economy; a cap and trade bill that will skyrocket our energy bills, gasoline, food, clothing and other utilities; and more and more job loss to outsourcing is like driving off a cliff into a sea of socialism and economic chaos.
