A pedestrian was killed and two Spring Hill men remain in critical condition following a traffic accident Thursday near State Road 52.

Shortly after 4 p.m., a Chevrolet Blazer and Pontiac Firebird were traveling southbound along Kent Grove Road when they collided and swerved off the road, troopers said.

The Pontiac, driven by Kenneth Lester Stewart, 36, of Spring Hill, slid off the roadway, injuring both the driver and passenger, 23-year-old Russell Monin, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Stewart and Monin were transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa and are listed in critical condition, troopers said.

A pedestrian, who has not yet been named, was killed during the accident, according to FHP.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Rose Mary Daniel, 59, of New Port Richey, was taken to Tampa General Hospital, deputies said. She also is listed in critical condition.

FHP is investigating.
