At his invitation I re-read Jim Gries' letter twice with my reading glasses to make sure I didn't miss a punctuation mark which may have slanted my interpretation of his context. I still found it arrogant and insulting and pointedly left leaning. Picture this, Jim, me standing here with my right hand raised and my left hand on the Bible and my swearing that I haven't listened to Rush Limbaugh, Kieth Oberman or Chris Matthews once in the last six or seven years and I never even heard of "Local Bob" whoever he is. I confess I have watched the Sean Hannity TV show two or three times in the last five years, and you are right ... he is a screechingly repetitious bloviator, but amazingly, listening to him did not cause my gray matter to turn into a gelatinous blob and come oozing out of my cranial orifaces! Maybe they all are bloviators. Who cares. It's their constitutional right to be, just as it's yours to disparage them for it, and mine to flip it back at you. I don't care for the opinions of any of them; but I guess because you include Chris Mathews that makes your attitude fair and balanced. Neither do I really care much about who is on your list so much as I do that you have a list in the first place.
Therefore perhaps you don't know as much about my gray matter and how it has been "trained" as you think. Maybe you should re-read your letter yourself, because if there was ever an "out-of-body, self-serving tirade" ... good grief!
It always amazes me how folks of the leftish persuasion hate to be called leftist! Your covert expression of a desire to ridicule and silence people of opposing views or merely different views is disingenuous and I'm not falling for it. This latest caper on the part of the commies in the White House to squelch Fox News along with the socialists in the congress who were pushing the "Fairness Doctrine" are the bloviations you should be outraged about. The tit for tat or the ping pong game played by the talking heads or "airway lords" as you call them is the very means by which a concerned citizenry can keep abreast of the latest chicanery being foisted on them by their own government, and I for one am thankful for them, left or right. It's accomplished like this: You observe, separate the wheat from the chaff, maybe do a little of your own research, mull over what you have learned... weigh a few facts and voila!... you've enjoyed an independent thought process! Practically painless... so easy a child can do it!
Your reference to Abu Ghraib and habeas corpus is merely political hypocrisy if you're not equally outraged by the assault on your own freedoms as well as by the atrocities' perpetrated on the victims of these poor mistreated POW's. War is hell.
So rest assured my right to an independent thought process is in good hands... mine. You keep yours off it! As for lunch, no thanks... I'm not that hungry.
