A dump trunk overturned Monday morning along U.S. 19, causing a road to close and traffic to be re-routed for more than two hours, troopers said.

A 1992 Peterbilt dump truck, owned by Hay's Trucking, was traveling southbound along Commercial Way shortly before 9:45 a.m. when the driver could not stop in time for a red traffic light, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report.

The driver, David E. Hay, 48, of Ocala, attempted a right turn onto Lake in the Woods Drive and drove over the grassy shoulder, troopers said.

The vehicle flipped onto its left side, dumped a full load of dirt and spilled a "large amount" of diesel fuel onto the road, according to the report.

A Hazmat team responded to clean the fuel spill, troopers said.

Hay was transported to Oak Hill Hospital for minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not involved, according to the report.
