Motorcycle Run To Honor Bierwiler

Pre-registration continues for Saturday's motorcycle run in honor of fallen sheriff's Capt. Scott Bierwiler.

The motorcycle run will serve as a fundraiser to send a group of deputies to Virginia for the national Police Unity Tour bicycle ride. The deputies will be riding in honor of Capt. Bierwiler, who was killed in a traffic collision Feb. 19 on Powell Road.

The 42-year-old sheriff's office veteran is survived by his wife and three children.

Registration for the ride begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday at Barney's of Brandon and ends at 11 a.m. The cost is $20 for a driver and $10 for a passenger.

The route winds through several back country roads and finishes at Adventure Cycle Center in Brooksville.
