Benefit Planned For Injured Firefighter

Hernando Beach residents are planning a shindig to raise funds for their injured assistant fire chief.

Joe Cascio was hospitalized in serious condition following a crash in Pasco County on Feb. 2. Now he's in rehabilitation, but the medical bills are piling up.

"It's going to be a long recovery," said Lorie Zimmerman, an organizer.

To that end, a fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at VFW Post 9236, 3435 Shoal Line Blvd. The event begins at noon and ends at 5 p.m.

A $7 entry fee will buy a sloppy Joe lunch, a chance at raffles and live entertainment. All proceeds will go to the Cascio family.

Cascio has been a volunteer with Hernando Beach Fire Rescue for more than 15 years.
