'Hair-A-Thon' To Help Injured Fire Chief

Talk about locks of love.

Evolutions Hair Design in Spring Hill will host a "Hair-a-thon" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday to raise money for Joe Cascio, an assistant fire chief at the Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department who was injured in a car accident last month.

The salon will offer free haircuts with a donation to the effort to help Cascio and his family defray expenses associated with his long road to recovery.

There will be drawings and music by a DJ.

Cascio, of Hernando Beach, was critically injured in a head-on collision on the Suncoast Parkway while traveling home from work at a youth detention center in Tampa. He underwent several surgeries and remains hospitalized in Pinellas County.
