Science lab teacher Linda Rothenberg won a $4,700 Toolbox for Education grant from Lowe's Home Improvement store for the "Science under the Sun" outdoor classroom and a Southwest Florida Water Management District grant to compare water usage in a common dirt garden and a hydroponic garden. The Lowe's grant paid for the paving stones, sand, several garden umbrellas, chairs, raised gardens and a storage shed. Rothenberg expects to have the 25-by-40-foot area finished by next week and will hold a grand opening on Earth Day, April 22.
