Driver Cited For Railroad Crash

RIDGE MANOR - A dump truck driver troopers say was responsible for a wreck that temporarily shut down a railroad Tuesday has been charged for his role.

Lazaro Capote, 35, of Spring Hill, is charged with driving on the wrong side of the roadway after veering into the path of an eastbound pickup on State Road 50, east of Treiman Boulevard, a report states.

The pickup's driver tried to swerve out of the way, but he was sideswiped by the dump truck and knocked into a posted railroad sign, a report states. That caused the trailer towed by the pickup to topple over, injuring the cattle inside, according to troopers.

The truck's driver, Robert Bodiford, 55, received serious injuries and was treated at Brooksville Regional Hospital.

A train was headed southbound from Bushnell, but authorities were able to stop it before it reached the site of the collision.

Teen Arrested On Charges Of Having Sex With Girl

BROOKSVILLE - A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday on charges related to his consensual sexual encounters with a 12-year-old girl.

The victim told deputies that the suspect, who is not being named because of his age, pestered her to have sex with him until she agreed last October. The couple continued their actions in the woods near their homes until Feb. 28, 2009, according to an arrest affidavit.

The suspect was charged with eight counts of lewd and lascivious battery.
