James Ryan Harrell, 26, was seen tucking items from the automotive aisle underneath his coat, according to an arrest report.
The two employees approached Harrell, grabbed him and then tackled him to the ground as he tried to break free, the report stated.
Harrell took five items worth $82.03, deputies said.
A search of the defendant also uncovered a blue pill container that included Oxycodone, Xanax and an amphetamine, according to the report.
Deputies said Harrell provided no proof the pills were prescribed to him.
He was arrested and charged with retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting a merchant and a felony count of possession of a controlled substance.
He was held on a $9,250 bond.
15-Year-Old Driver Found With Crack Cocaine
SPRING HILL - Deputies arrested a 15-year-old driver on Saturday on charges including drug possession and battery on an officer.
The suspect, who is not being named because of her age, was pulled over shortly before midnight on Mariner Boulevard because she was driving without headlights. The deputy suspected she was driving drunk and requested a traffic deputy to perform field sobriety tests.
Before the deputy's backup arrived, though, the suspect kicked the officer in the leg. To avoid further confrontation they skipped the tests and arrested her on suspicion of DUI.
Jail staff wouldn't take her until she was medically cleared, so the deputies took her to the hospital. In the intervening 3 1/2-hour wait at the hospital, the suspect had sobered up enough that the DUI charge was dropped.
She was still charged with battery on an officer, driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia and 3.5 grams of crack cocaine in her pants.
