"Sublime," the submarine designed and built by local students, won the Overall Performance Award last week during the 20th anniversary running of the International Submarine Races in Bethesda, Md. The sub was given a test run at Weeki Wachee Springs Park earlier this month.
An image of a mermaid was painted on the shell. In addition to winning the top award at the competition, Sublime also won a close victory over a submarine from Florida Atlantic University during an unofficial two-sub, all-Florida challenge match on Friday.
