Two suspected drunk drivers were arrested Wednesday, including a motorist who drove the wrong direction on Commercial Way.
In the latter case, a deputy patrolling Commercial Way near Trenton Avenue around 2 a.m. said he saw a pickup travelling southbound in the northbound lanes.
The pickup was pulled over and the driver, William Lyons, 30, showed signs of intoxication, according to a report. He was taken to the county jail on suspicion of DUI, where he reportedly posted a blood alcohol level of .188.
Florida law presumes intoxication at .08.
Later that morning, around 8 a.m., deputies were sent to the area of Deltona Boulevard and Canterbury Street to search for a reckless driver.
An off-duty firefighter called authorities after he said a gold Pontiac slammed on its brake numerous times and weaved into oncoming traffic three times.
Deputies found the Pontiac found pulled over on Deltona Boulevard and noted that the driver, Michelle Kazakowitz, 28, was having trouble keeping her balance. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI; she is currently out on bond for another suspected DUI arrest on May 26, a report shows.
A breath test returned negative results; Kazakowitz's mother told deputies her daughter might have ingested prescription drugs or methamphetamine, a report shows.
