A woman chasing a dog with her car hydroplaned on a puddle left by a sprinkler and crashed into a concrete pole.
At least, that's how Judy Shipman explained the heavily damaged car to police on Saturday, according to a report.
Police say they detected the odor of alcoholic beverages on Shipman's breath.
Field sobriety tests were done on Shipman, 45, at the scene of the crash, the South Square Shopping Center at 20090 Cortez Blvd. Police determined she was intoxicated and took Shipman to the county jail on suspicion of DUI with property damage.
Blood alcohol tests reportedly returned results of .085 and .087. Florida law presumes intoxication at .08. Shipman was also charged for the marijuana seeds police say they found on her person.
The night before, around 8 p.m., police took a man into custody for his fifth DUI arrest.
A westbound SUV on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was pulled over for a cracked windshield and dark window tint, according to a report. The driver, Joseph Guntor, 49, reportedly showed signs of intoxication and field sobriety tests confirmed a police officer's suspicion.
Guntor, of 14019 Tranquility Drive, was arrested on a felony charge of DUI because of his four prior DUI convictions. A report gives his blood alcohol level as .172 and .169.
