DUI suspect crashes into pole outside house

A suspected drunk driver couldn't keep his stories straight when he crashed into a light pole outside his house on Tuesday, deputies said.

The crash was discovered by a deputy around 2 a.m. at the foot of the driveway leading to 28485 Cortez Blvd., near Hadley Drive. The suspect, Michael Johnson, had already walked away from the crash, but his wife had just arrived in another car, a report states.

She told a traffic deputy that she was out looking for her husband at local bars and returned home to discover his Ford Taurus smashed into the pole. Johnson got out of the car and left, saying he didn't want to get into trouble, a report states.

The suspect told the deputy an unknown woman was driving his car and his friend "Kenny" was in the back seat, according to a report. His wife reportedly interrupted at this point and said, "Kenny said you left his house and he told you not to drive because you were drunk."

Johnson, 25, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, at which point he began violently kicking the interior of the deputy's car, according to the report. He was taken to the county jail on charges of DUI with property damage, resisting an officer without violence and refusing to sign a citation.

Teen accused of attack on disabled mother

SPRING HILL A teenager is accused of attacking her disabled mother.

The 17-year-old suspect got into a fight on June 11 with her brother at their home on the 13000 block of Twinberry Drive. At one point, she shoved her mother, who was seated in a wheelchair and unable to defend herself, a report states.

The teen, who is not being named because of her age, was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of abusing a disabled adult.
