Area Deaths

Marlene M. Cortez, 70, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, July 1.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph; three sons, Joseph, Andrew and Glenn; three daughters, Cindy, Darlene and Marie-Elena; two sisters, Barbara and Gerry; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Matthew J. Mell, 86, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, July 1, at HPH Care Center, Brooksville. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 24 years ago from Lynwood, Ill.
Mr. Mell was an electrician, World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW, Moose and American Legion, all in Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, Robert Mell of Stafford, Va., and Rick Mell of Huntsville, Ala.; and a grandson.

Charles J. Kopasz, 92, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, July 2, at HPH Care Center, Brooksville.
Mr. Kopasz retired from General Electric and was a U.S. Army veteran.
