An Ocala man was killed in a two-car crash Thursday morning at the intersection of State Road 50 and U.S. 19.
Richard B. Hazzard, 38, was northbound on U.S. 19 and traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with a Mack truck turning south from S.R. 50, according to the Highway Patrol. Hazzard died at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the 5:30 a.m. crash, troopers say.
Traffic was backed up for "several hours" as troopers investigated. Anyone who witnessed the crash or the events leading up to it is asked to call FHP at 813-631-4020.
