Wanted: Standing Committee Members

County commissioners are accepting applications from people interested in serving on the Budget and Finance Standing Committee and the Business and Economic Development Standing Committee.

There are three openings on each committee.

Preference will be given to applicants based on the following criteria:

Budget and Finance Standing Committee:

•Accounting background

• Banking and Finance experience

•Education

•Senior Management experience

Business and Economic Development Standing Committee:

•Business background, past and current

•Commercial-industrial experience

•Education

•Marketing-promotion background

•Transportation-logistics experience

Applicants will need computer access since all agendas are prepared and distributed digitally.

Applications are available in the County Administrator's Office, 20 North Main Street, room 460, Brooksville. People can also call 754-4002 or visit www.hernandocounty.us/bocc/committees.htm.

Applications must be returned to the above address no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Applicants must be residents and registered voters in Hernando County. These are voluntary, non-paid positions.

In other government news:

The Hernando County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will hold a public meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 in the John Law Ayers County Commission chambers, 20 N. Main Street, room 160, Brooksville.

The MPO will also hold a public meeting of the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the same location.

The Hernando County Housing Authority Office has scheduled a public meeting to provide information to homeowners about the Housing Enhancement Loan Program (HELP).

The meeting is at 9 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2 in the John Law Ayers Room, room 160, first floor, Hernando County Government Center, Brooksville.

To be eligible for funding assistance, applicants must use the home as their primary residence and have a total gross household income less that $19,800 for one person; $22,600 for two persons, $25,450 for three persons, $28,250 for four persons. Mobile homes are ineligible for the funding assistance under the guidelines of the program.
