Police have arrested a man in connection with the homicide of a Brooksville property appraiser.
Police charged a homeless man named Monty Gregg Albright, 35, who is known to frequent the area.
No further details were available at press time.
The victim, Steven Van Slyke, 58, was found dead in his home at 27 Cherry St. early Tuesday afternoon. A neighbor told Hernando Today that the man who discovered Van Slyke's body was wailing outside Van Slyke's home that someone had "broke into the house" and "killed Steve."
Police have not said how Van Slyke died.
Van Slyke's gold Volvo was reported missing earlier in the day and was later found at an undisclosed location. Investigators are also on the lookout for the two black men accompanying Albright Tuesday night. All three were last seen riding in a 1999 model maroon Ford F-150 with a silver tool box in the truck bed.
This is Brooksville's first homicide of the year. Last year, there were two: one on Valentine's Day, the other on Memorial Day. Suspects have been named in both cases.
