Al Anon Meetings To Begin At Holy Trinity

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Nazdar,

Al Anon meetings have started at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on U.S. 41 and Ayers Road. Al Anon is a group meeting for families of alcoholics to help them with coping skills, support and encourage the individual in need of support. They meet Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. in the Sunday School Room "A" in the educational wing. The AA Group meets at 7 p.m. on Mondays. For more information, call 796-4066.

Because the holidays are over, it does not mean our boys and girls do not still need our love and attention. Items such as shampoos, deodorants, razors, shave cream, hand sanitizers, tooth brushes and dental floss, healthy snacks, personal hygiene items, insect repellents, phone cards and magazines (men's or women's) - anything to take their mind off of why they are there and to occupy their time; crossword puzzles, search a word books, pens, pencils, paper to write home, envelopes, etc. Anything you think (nonperishable) would make them a little more comfortable while they have to be over there! And if you have the chance - or the time - send them thank you card. You know that any one of them would appreciate our home, heartfelt thoughts. You can take any of the above to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The church's office hours are from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.

Oh, by the way, don't forget to make your cash donations to Lea's Prayers & Postage to cover the cost of shipping and postage to our troops.

Jim Olson has a houseful. Last week his brothers, Chris Olson and Gary Olson, both of Liverpool, Pa., and Scott Olson-Carper of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Liverpool, Pa. They enjoyed banging a few buckets of balls on the local golf courses and seeing all of the new changes in town. They also visited with their half-sister, Melanie Olson of Weeki Wachee, and her family. Mainly, they enjoyed the Florida sunshine, as opposed to the snowy and cold weather in their home ports.

They brought in the New Year at Silver Lake. Renee Vander Veer, Lenny Parks, son Billy Vander Veer, wife Roxanne, and their 5-year-old son Billy Vander Veer Jr., all had an enjoyable five days celebrating the New Year. A "woo-woo" good time (as Renee would say) was had by the whole family.
