Is 'CPR' For Real?
According to Hernando Today reporter Michael D. Bates, "the comprehensive plan for recovery" would retrieve $2.5 million from the general fund to help potential homeowners buy up foreclosed homes. It's odd homebuyers would need this kind of help.
As I recall, the two commissioners who showed their support for this cockamamie plan are the same two the builder who devised the plan supported in the recent county commissioner election.
Hopefully, this kind of thinking will stay in the "box."

Earl Is Truth-Impaired
I have an extremely difficult time making sense of Frances Earl's rants on your opinion page. Her claim to fame is she was the vice chairwoman of the Hernando County Democratic Executive Committee. One would think that she would know and understand how our government works.
She stated Thursday the Republican Party controlled the Executive and Legislative branches for the last eight long years. She knows that that is an outright lie. But then she is a might truth-impaired.
The Democrats controlled the Senate in 2002 and they have controlled it from 2006 to the present. They also have controlled the House from 2006 to the present. For your information, when the party, Democrat or Republican, has a majority, they control that part of the Legislature - the Senate and, in this case also the House, better known as the "Legislative branch." They also control all the committees, do all the oversight on functions like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae that were responsible for all of our problems at this time.
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden were two of the "majority party" who didn't do their jobs.
Rush to believe in weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? I remember more than 10 years and 17 orders from the United Nations ordering Saddam Hussein to hand over his WMD and their precursors. To you this is a rush? Once again, truth-impaired and not too smart.
There is a famous saying: If your mouth is moving you are lying. Seems like you are a pretty good example of this saying.
